Shia LaBeouf Opens Up About His Recent Transition Towards Faith

Shia Labeouf has been no stranger to the spotlight, however much of the publicity surrounding the famed actor has not been positive. It is for this very reason that his story of redemption is one of sheer inspiration.

Many may know Shia for the memorable performances in fan-favorite films such as Holes, or the original Transformers franchise, amongst a host of other film and television roles. Unfortunately, the actor has developed a negative reputation that proceeds his acting prowess due to the nature of the circumstances. The more recent accusations placed on Labeouf involved instances of violence and domestic abuse which led the actor to even contemplate taking his own life. “I didn’t want to be alive anymore when all this happened. Shame like I had never experienced before — the kind of shame that you forget how to breathe. You don’t know where to go,” Labeouf said in an interview with Bishop Barron.

Labeouf continues in the interview to state that it was the vulnerability of several Christians and their struggles with sin that prompted him towards giving his life to Christ, “It was seeing other people who have sinned beyond anything I could ever conceptualize also being found in Christ that made me feel like, ‘Oh, that gives me hope.” This provides a great example of what is written in Romans 8;38 that, “ 38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons,[a] neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” There truly is nothing that can separate us from the love of God!
